Many abnormal genetic test results do not mean a 100% certainty for you to have a heart problem. Many genetic tests only tell you about your risk to have a heart problem. This may be called an “abnormal” or “positive” test result, which can sometimes be confusing. Testing positive for a mutation in a gene associated with an inherited heart condition usually means that you have an increased risk for a heart problem, compared to people without that mutation – it does not mean that you are 100% going to have a heart problem.
