Recent evidence from studies of men who are diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer have found that at least 12% of men with metastatic prostate cancer are found to have a single mutated gene that may be responsible for the cancer’s development. Knowing this information can sometimes impact which treatments are used or whether a man should go on active surveillance vs. receiving surgery and treatment for the cancer.
