GENOME MEDICAL AND HEALTH HERITAGE
Genome Medical’s integration of Health Heritage will help ensure that patients are provided with the best, most efficient clinical care during their genomic health journey. And for health systems, health plans and other organizations, it adds another strategic element to the “genomic insights as a service” solutions that can be licensed from Genome Medical for genomic care optimization.
Health Heritage’s tools and services will be incorporated into the Genome Care Delivery TM platform for use by clinical genetic specialists in oncology. Health Heritage will identify patients most appropriate for genetic testing and other personalized screening and risk-reducing actions. Genome Medical may expand use of this technology to other diseases, such as cardiovascular and neurologic disorders.
WHAT IS HEALTH HERITAGE?
Health Heritage is a tool designed to empower users to collect and understand their detailed personal and family medical histories and receive personalized risk assessments and recommendations. Branching logic and guidance enable users to easily construct the foundation of their medical history. Secure methods are provided for family members to share and maintain up-to-date family information. All information is used to identify individuals at risk for common cancers, their related hereditary cancer syndromes and to provide evidence-based recommendations for users to discuss with their providers.
Risk assessment and recommendations are based on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines and other evidence-based literature and include changes in lifestyle, referrals for genetic testing, increased cancer surveillance, and risk-reducing medications and surgeries.
HOW DOES HEALTH HERITAGE IMPROVE GENETIC PROFILES?
Medical professionals now have a much better understanding of how genetic or inherited conditions behave in different people and within families. Our genetic profile is simply incomplete without information on how our genes operate within our family. Health Heritage makes these connections by helping us create and understand a full family medical history.
