San Francisco, CA – July 8, 2026Genome Medical, the leading provider of telehealth-enabled genetic services, today marks its 10th anniversary — a decade defined by a singular mission: ensuring that every patient who needs genetics expertise can access it.

Founded in 2016, Genome Medical set out to bridge a critical gap in the healthcare system. Expert genetic counseling was in short supply, wait times stretched for months, and patients in rural or underserved communities had few options. Genome Medical changed that — building one of the largest teams of telehealth genetic counselors in the United States and delivering care to patients across all 50 states, often in less than a week.

Over the past ten years, the company has delivered more than 250,000 genetic counseling sessions, facilitated more than 110,000 genetic tests, and earned a 96% patient satisfaction rating. It has contributed to more than 60 scientific publications, posters and presentations, and has worked to ensure cost is never a barrier to care — establishing in-network relationships with health plans covering more than 148 million individuals and supporting sponsored counseling and testing programs that offer no-cost services to eligible patients.

“When we started Genome Medical, genetics was still largely inaccessible to most patients,” said Jill Davies, CEO of Genome Medical. “Ten years later, the field has transformed — and so have we. What began as a mission to expand access to genetic medicine has grown into something much broader: making sure patients can not only get answers, but can act on them. That means connecting them to the right diagnosis, the right guidance, and increasingly, the right therapy.”

A Decade of Progress — In the Field and the Clinic

The past ten years have seen extraordinary advances in precision medicine and rare disease care. Whole-genome sequencing moved from a research tool to a clinical standard. Gene therapies for conditions once considered untreatable reached patients for the first time. The diagnostic odyssey, which once stretched for a decade or more for families seeking a rare disease diagnosis, has begun to shorten meaningfully.

Genome Medical has been woven into that progress — helping patients navigate testing, understand results, and access a rapidly expanding landscape of treatment options.

Evolving to Meet the Moment

In 2021, Genome Medical expanded its reach through the acquisition of GeneMatters, strengthening its clinical capabilities and national footprint. In early 2025, the company announced a strategic shift to focus primarily on rare diseases — where the need for specialized genetics expertise is most acute and the opportunity to change lives is greatest. Over the past two years, the proportion of Genome Medical patients with rare disease indications has grown threefold.

Alongside that focus, Genome Medical has launched clinical trial recruitment services, connecting patients to potentially life-changing therapies. The company has also invested in AI-powered tools to expand the reach and efficiency of genetic care delivery, and launched a Voice of the Patient series to ensure the patient perspective shapes how care evolves.

“As genetically targeted therapies continue to emerge, the bridge between a patient’s diagnosis and access to the right treatment has never been more important,” added Davies. “That’s the work ahead of us — and we couldn’t be more ready for it.”

Looking Ahead

As Genome Medical enters its second decade, the company remains committed to the mission that has guided it from the beginning: ensuring that no patient is left behind by a gap in access to genetic expertise or the therapies that a genetic diagnosis can unlock.
