What to Expect from a
Pre-Test Consultation

We start by assessing your risk for genetic disease, and then we help guide you in making an informed choice about genetic testing.

Pre-test consultation

Talk with an expert by phone or video to determine whether FH testing is appropriate for you. Our experts will review personal and family health history and answer any questions you may have about getting tested.

Easy ordering

If appropriate, your test order will be placed by one of our physicians. We will also coordinate the convenient collection of a DNA sample — usually through a saliva kit that is sent directly to you. Testing may be available at no charge. Invitae has donated 100 free FH tests for this FH Foundation initiative.

Results consultation

You have the option to review the test results with a genetic counselor or medical geneticist. During this phone or video session, you are provided an opportunity to discuss the results of the test and their implications.

Ongoing care

Along with your test results, the Genome Medical team will provide you with personalized insights, a clinical action plan and referrals to specialists as needed.

The FH Foundation will support you and your family with education and resources before, during and after testing.
