How It Works
Get personalized, genetics-based care from Genome Medical
STEP ONE
Pre-test consultation
Talk with an expert by phone or video before your test is ordered. We review your personal and family health history, answer any questions you may have, confirm that you meet eligibility criteria for one of Invitae’s sponsored testing programs and help you select the right test.
STEP TWO
Easy ordering
Your Invitae order will be placed by one of our physicians. We will also coordinate the convenient collection of a DNA sample — usually through a saliva kit that is sent directly to you. Create an Invitae account to track your sample through Invitae’s lab.
STEP THREE
Results Consultation
Review your test results with a genetic counselor or medical geneticist. During this phone or video session, you are provided an opportunity to discuss the results of your test and their implications. Genome Medical will provide you with a written summary and guidance on any actionable insights, including how your physician can integrate the results into your medical care.
STEP FOUR
Ongoing care
The Genome Medical team can offer personalized insights, clinical action plans and referrals to specialists as needed.
Cost
There are multiple ways to pay Genome Medical for genetic counseling when you test through Invitae’s sponsored testing programs.
Genome Medical
(for counseling & MD services)
Insurance: We are a participating provider with some health insurance plans, and we can submit the claim to your insurance provider. The amount you pay at the time of your session will be $50 or your specialty co-pay — depending on whether we are an in-network provider with your insurance.
Self-pay: Pay $125 for Genome Medical’s services. This includes a pre-test consultation, test authorization (if applicable) and a post-test consultation to review your results. Your insurance provider will not be billed if you elect self-pay.
Invitae
(for testing)
Insurance: Invitae will submit the claim to your insurance provider. The great majority of patients pay no more than $100 out of pocket after insurance billing.
Self-pay: Pay $250 via credit card and skip billing your insurance provider.
