PATIENT SELF-PAY PROCESS
Our mission at Genome Medical is to expand access to genomic health. Genetic counseling should be affordable and accessible to anyone who needs it. We offer a patient-pay price of $199 per session to make such genetic counseling sessions affordable for more patients.
To choose the $199 price, simply select the “Self-Pay” option during the checkout process. Once you select a date and time for your virtual appointment, you will be asked to pay for your session by credit card. Genome Medical accepts Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Discover. You also will be asked to enter personal health information (PHI) when you register as a patient. To understand how we protect PHI, please review our Notice of Privacy Practices.
Genome Medical also offers payment plans and a financial assistance program to further increase access to genetic counseling. Please contact our Care Coordinator team at clinical@genomemedical.com or 877.688.0992 to request more information.
INSURANCE PAY PROCESS
Genome Medical can bill insurance carriers or institutions directly for genetic counseling sessions for patients in the United States only. (Note that this option does not apply to the patient-pay option.) Simply select the “Pay with Insurance” option during the checkout process. You will be asked to enter personal health information (PHI) when you register. To understand how we protect PHI, please review our Notice of Privacy Practices. Once you select a date and time for your virtual appointment, you will be asked to provide your insurance information. If we are not in-network with your insurance provider, you’ll be asked to provide your credit card information. Following your visit, your credit card will be charged $50. We will bill you separately for any charges not covered by your insurance plan. If your insurance company covers your visit in full, your $50 will be refunded. Genome Medical accepts Visa, MasterCard, Amex and Discover.
This price includes the cost of genetic counseling services only and does not include the cost of genetic testing. Medically indicated tests, such as those used to test for a hereditary cancer syndrome based on a patient’s family history, may be covered by your health insurance plan. Genetic testing for healthy individuals is generally not covered by insurance but is available for patients who want to self-pay. Please check with your insurance provider for exact coverage for genetic testing.
You won’t need to contact your insurance company to find out if your appointment is covered or to obtain reimbursement. We will collect your insurance information and submit a claim to your insurance company on your behalf.
Genome Medical is proud to be an in-network provider for more than 176 million patients in the United States—and growing. But no matter your in-network or out-of-network status, Genome Medical is committed to making genetic services affordable for everyone. Please refer to our up-to-date list of in-network payers.
Please call us to discuss payment options if they are of interest to you to cover any out-of-pocket expenses due. We offer programs to help those patients with higher out-of-pocket costs, including financial assistance and payment options.
Please be prepared to provide the following information if you wish to Genome Medical to submit a claim to your insurance company for your genetic counseling session:
- Insurance company
- Insurance address (located on the back of your insurance card)
- Subscriber’s first and last name
- Relationship to subscriber (if not self)
- Member ID
- A copy (front and back) of the insurance card
You may receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurance company in the mail. This is not a bill. Genome Medical will also receive this EOB and will handle any appeals processes. If you have a balance to pay, Genome Medical will invoice you once the appeals process is complete.
