South San Francisco – August 25, 2023 – Genome Medical has won a Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Silver Award in the Learning & Development category for its RISE Patient Engagement Modules’ education videos. RISE increases access to genetic services and supports patient decision-making, spanning the continuum of genetics care through scheduling, hereditary cancer and genetic risk assessment, patient triage, and patient education. The videos were created by Genome Medical’s Education & Engagement team in collaboration with Ninja Tropic, an animation company that focuses on eLearning solutions.

Early identification of patients at risk for hereditary cancer is crucial for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Despite this, clinical guidelines are complex, dynamic and challenging to integrate into clinical practice. Fewer than one in five patients who meet guidelines for hereditary cancer testing are appropriately identified. RISE improves screening and care by collecting and analyzing family and personal health history to determine if a patient meets genetic testing criteria for hereditary cancer

“Our award winners are relentless in their pursuit of excellence,” says Mike Cooke, CEO, Brandon Hall Group. “We have received some of the most innovative use of Human Capital Management (HCM) strategy that we have seen in the last 30 years, and in most cases, technology and collaboration across departments have helped our award winners achieve amazing business results.”

“Our educational videos are a nice way to augment our genetic counseling sessions. They provide foundational information to the patient, giving providers and our genetic counselors more time to spend with the patient on their specific needs,” says Kristin Ashcraft, COO, Genome Medical. “Putting the patient first is central to everything we do, and since video is a familiar educational tool for many patients, this service has a powerful impact on the provider and patient experience.”

Award entries were evaluated by a panel of veteran, independent, senior industry experts, Brandon Hall Group analysts, and executives based on business need and environment alignment; program design, functionality, and delivery; and overall effectiveness, impact, and measurable benefits.
